The Future of MAPACA Publications: Imagining Digital Scholarship and Pedagogy

Abstract: 

This presentation will focus on the changes MAPACA anticipates in terms of shifting publication to an online, open-access digital platform that will explore the possibilities of producing high quality scholarship in new media formats. We will also solicit opinion and discussion on a number of topics, including:

  • How the new publication can best serve MAPACA membership
  • How to develop and maintain protocols and standards for digital scholarship
  • How scholarship intersects with new media, and the value of digital scholarship for academic professionals and independent scholars
  • The value of open-access platforms

About the presenter

Jason Davids Scott

Jason Davids Scott graduated from NYU with a BFA in Cinema Studies, worked for over a decade in feature film publicity and development, and eventually earned and MA and Ph.D. in Theatre from UC Santa Barbara. Dr. Scott’s first textbook, Everything But the Script: Professional Writing in the Entertainment Industry, was published in 2019 by Cognella. Dr. Scott is a past president of MAPACA and helped launch the online journal Response.
