About the presenter

Samuel Yates

Samuel Yates is an American Literature and Culture Ph.D Student at the George Washington University, and a George J. Mitchell Scholar. As a Humanity In Action Senior Fellow, his current research focuses on the mediations of disability in literature, film and stage productions, asking how pop culture materials figure the dis/abled super-human body as sites for the exploration of biological (in)capacities. He has served as a dramaturg, playwright, and director for over thirty professional and university theatre productions, including work with the Abbey Theatre, The Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center, The Samuel Beckett Centre, and New Harmony Theatre.
