I will explore the lack of color in A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT. This black-and-white film is the most beautiful horror I have ever seen, and each shot should be framed and hung in a gallery. The black, white, and gray tones perfectly capture the essence of the city in which the characters inhabit, and hold great thematic value. In addition, I will compare and contrast that film with the explosive use of color in the mindbending horror, THE STRANGE COLOR OF YOUR BODY’S TEARS. Both arthouse films are equally amazing, and their exploration of light and shadow, color and lack thereof, bring both vibrant stories to life in stellar fashion.
