Philadelphia Museum of Art Decorative Arts and Design Tour

Friday, November 6, 9:00 am to 10:00 am (Off-site)

The decorative arts have been a central concern of the Philadelphia Museum of Art since its founding in 1876 as the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art. Join Colin Fanning, Curatorial Fellow for European Decorative Arts and Sculpture at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and MAPACA Decorative Arts and Design Area Chair Sarah Lichtman, for a tour of the Museum’s decorative arts collections, exploring the important place they occupy in the institution’s history and considering questions of interpretation and display.

This is a one hour small group tour (limit of 20 people) that will require PMA Reservations.

MAPACA is paying for the tour. However, you will need to get yourself to the museum. It’s a nice 1.2 mile walk up the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and 15 minutes or less via bus for $2.25 one-way. More travel information will be provided at the conference.
