“Demons Suck”: Paranormal Activity in the Classroom

Presenter:
Antares Russell Leask (Northern VA Community College)
Presentation type:
Paper
Abstract:

This proposal is part of a Paranormal Activity panel with Tiffany Bryant and Charles Hoge.

In this presentation I will discuss how I use the first Paranormal Activity film in the literature classroom to help students better connect literature and popular culture to explore universal themes. I will also discuss my use of cryptozoology and the paranormal in teaching argumentation. Both of these course structures allow students to engage with the curriculum in a new way and form clearer understandings of how they perceive the world around them.

Scheduled on:
Thursday, November 3, 1:45 pm to 3:00 pm
