Beyond the Brains: Dietary Diversity of Zombies

Presenter:
Jill M. Nussel (Alderson Broaddus University)
Presentation type:
Paper
Abstract:

Modern zombie cannon has examined zombies as metaphors for consumerism run rampant and have created a trope by which zombies occupy socio-capitalist positions, but there is so much more, with literature that examines every facet of zombie life – or unlife. Ever since Barbra discovered a half-eaten corpse in an empty Pennsylvania farmhouse in Night of the Living Dead, pop culture has speculated on the dietary habits of zombies, but with little evidence. Popular culture has trained us for the zombie apocalypse from movies to the CDC. A closer examination shows that the zombie diet is actually quite diverse. In an examination of the undead through history, zombies enjoy a food combining diet that will allow today’s consumer to stop being a food zombie.

Scheduled on:
Friday, November 8, 11:00 am to 12:15 pm
