Area:
Presenters:
Michael Stamps (Delaware Valley University (Doylestown, PA))
David D. Timony (Delaware Valley University)
Scott Eivind Rudd (Monroe Community College)
Presentation type:
Paper
Abstract:

What happens when a group of middle-aged friends decides that they just have too much fun and too much to share regarding their life-long obsessions with heavy metal music and culture? They start a podcast. Middle-Aged Metal-Heads Podcast, which has been streaming its two dozen episodes on all major platforms since October 2019, is the result of an enthusiastic and patient core of participants who meet remotely online from various area codes and time zones to discuss preplanned topics devoted to particular aspects of heavy metal that are of interest to us and our listeners. The proposed roundtable will consist of members of the Middle-Aged Middle-Heads podcast team and community, who are eager to discuss how the project came (and stays) together, as well as how such a program validates the lasting popularity of heavy metal music and fits into the larger cultural nostalgia for all things 80s.

Scheduled on:
Friday, November 8, 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm
