NOTORIOUS R.B.G.

Presenter:
Sejal Singh
Presentation type:
Paper
Abstract:

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg is the most looked-up-to person in Washington D.C. She has ascended to pop culture prominence. There are plenty of posters, coffee mugs and shirts featuring inspirational and quotes from her speeches and opinions. But, more importantly, Justice Ginsberg’s fight for women’s rights and opinions broke new ground for gender equality in the United States and gained renewed attention in light of the Me Too movement, the Women’s March in January 2017, and most recently the debate over abortion. This presentation will discuss Justice Ginsberg’s legal career and lifelong interest in gender equality in the context of legal issues facing women today and will address laws and cases involving sexual harassment, equal pay, and abortion rights.

Scheduled on:
Thursday, November 7, 4:45 pm to 6:00 pm
