Deadline Reminder: Please remember that all of your proposals for this year’s MAPACA conference are due by 11:59pm TODAY! Remember — you don’t need to have the entire paper completed, yet. We only need a 300-word proposal. We can’t wait to see what you submit!

2018 Call for Papers

Mid-Atlantic Popular & American Culture Association (MAPACA) 29th Annual Conference November 8-10, 2018 Baltimore, MD – Lord Baltimore Hotel

Call for papers:

Proposals are welcome on all aspects of popular and American culture for inclusion in the 2018 Mid-Atlantic Popular & American Culture Association (MAPACA) conference in Baltimore, MD. Single papers, panels, roundtables, and alternative formats are permitted.

Proposals should take the form of 300-word abstracts, and may only be submitted to one appropriate area. For a list of areas and area chair contact information, visit General questions can be directed to [email protected]. The deadline for submission is Saturday, June 30, 2018.

We are pleased to return to Baltimore, MD for the 29th annual Mid-Atlantic Popular and American Culture (MAPACA) conference. The conference will take place at the Lord Baltimore hotel. Information on conference room rates and registration will be posted in Summer 2018.

MAPACA’s membership is comprised of college and university faculty, independent scholars and artists, and graduate and undergraduate students. MAPACA is an inclusive professional organization dedicated to the study of popular and American culture in all their multi-disciplinary manifestations. It is a regional division of the Popular Culture and American Culture Association, which, in the words of Popular Culture Association founder Ray Browne, is a “multi-disciplinary association interested in new approaches to the expressions, mass media and all other phenomena of everyday life.”
