Want to get involved with MAPACA? We have open positions!

MAPACA has openings for a Treasurer and various Advisory Board members, and we are looking for people from a diverse group of scholarly backgrounds and perspectives who are enthusiastic about ensuring the continued growth and vitality of the organization. Our Board consists of officers, an Executive Board, and an Advisory Board. Board members help organize the annual conference and work during the year on various organizational responsibilities. As noted in the constitution, Board members should hail, ideally, from the Mid-Atlantic region. The Board may use its discretion when an applicant lives outside of the region; however, the potential member should be willing to all Board meetings and should be able to attend the conference in its entirety, arriving a day early to help with organizational tasks.

MAPACA also is looking for members to serve as part of the editorial team for Response, MAPACA’s academic journal. Unless the editorial team member is chosen to serve on the board as well, the member need not attend board meetings and does not vote on Board-related matters.

Process:

Members of the current Board will work to recruit new members. Interested candidates should fill out the attached application and send it with their CV to President@mapaca.net. These documents then will be posted on Basecamp, MAPACA’s virtual meeting site and Board members will then review the application and hold a vote. This vote will remain confidential. The President will notify the candidate of the results. If accepted as a Board member, the candidate will join immediately via MAPACA’s virtual meeting site (Basecamp). Candidates chosen as members of the Response editorial team also will have access to Basecamp discussions as needed.
