Hotel and Travel Information
We are excited to see everyone in person in just a few days at the Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square located at 1800 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103. Valet parking is available at the hotel’s covered parking garage located on Market Street between 19th & 18th Streets, next to the hotel entrance.
If you are traveling to the conference by airplane, you can use the SEPTA Regional Rail Airport Line to travel to and from Center City Philadelphia. Historic William H. Gray 30th Street Station is a short walk to and from the hotel (as are other Center City Philadelphia stations).
Rideshare and taxi options are also available to travel from PHL to the Sonesta Rittenhouse Square and Center City.

Mütter Museum Tour - Last Call
Come take a guided tour of the Mütter Museum, “America’s finest museum of medical history.”
There are a limited number of tickets still available for the Thursday, November 9, 2023, 12:30-1:30 tour. Admission to the museum is good for the rest of the day!
LAST CALL! The deadline to purchase Mütter Museum tour tickets is 11/8/2023 at 8 AM.

Add sessions to your Personal Schedule
Keep track of your busy MAPACA Conference schedule by following these steps to Add Sessions to your Personal Schedule:
First, log into your account at MAPACA.net. Then, if you click on a session title from the conference’s general schedule or the schedule by area, you’ll find an “Add to personal schedule” button, which will add the session to the “Personal Schedule” section of the website. This allows you to keep track of the conference sessions you’re interested in.
Once clicked, that button will read “In personal schedule,” and, if clicked again, it will remove the session from your calendar. Simple as that.
Day Passes
If you have a friend/colleague/significant other/etc. that would like to come to the conference for a day, Single-day Passes for guests can be purchased here.
Recycling Badge Holders and BYOL (Bring your own lanyard)
We have two initiatives that will help reduce waste at MAPACA. First, please recycle your badge holders at the end of the conference at a designated drop-off point. Second, consider bringing your favorite lanyard to use at the conference. Not only will your lanyard help reduce waste, but it will also be a stylish fashion accessory and conversation starter!

DIA Reception - Thursday, November 9, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the Wyeth Ballroom, 2nd floor
We present the Divine Impact Award (DIA) to legendary Philadelphia sports broadcaster Angelo Cataldi! Bar and book sales open at 6:00. A generous reception will follow. Mr. Cataldi’s book, LOUD, will be available for sale and he will be signing copies during the reception.
Reception and Annual Meeting - Friday, November 10, from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the Wyeth Ballroom, 2nd floor
Celebrate our award winners and enjoy a generous reception and cash bar.
Crash Course - Saturday, November 11, 12:15 pm to 1:45 pm in Wyeth Gallery C, 2nd floor
A conference favorite! The 2023 Crash Course is a high-density session featuring 5-minute micro-presentations about current popular culture topics.
COVID Statement
Note: The health and safety of our MAPACA community is of the utmost importance to us. With RSV, the flu, and COVID-19 going around we encourage everyone to bring their own well-fitting mask. We will have surgical masks and a limited number of N95 masks will be available at the check-in tables. If you start to feel under the weather, you can inquire at the check-in table about a limited number of available COVID-19 tests. Find the full statement below.
We look forward to welcoming you to our 2023 conference this November. At this time, our conference will be mask-encouraged to support our immunocompromised community members. Remember, the proper wearing of a mask that covers your nose and mouth helps prevent community spread and protect everyone, especially immunocompromised colleagues.
Before the conference, please check to see if you are eligible for a vaccine or booster for COVID-19 or other seasonal diseases, such as the flu. Visit vaccines.gov to find vaccination locations near you. Keeping up to date with vaccines, in line with public health and your doctor’s guidance, further supports our community.
Finally, we are asking you to do your part in contributing to the health and well-being of your fellow MAPACA attendees by staying home if you feel sick and/or are symptomatic. The Mid-Atlantic Popular and American Culture Association (MAPACA) is monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely. These guidelines may change based on infection rates in the country and Philadelphia as the conference approaches.
