The Comics, Cartoons, and Video Gaming area examines storytelling and the cultural significance of graphic and visual formats apart from live action. Subjects studied include the alternate realities of graphic novels and comic books, the impact of cartoons in formats ranging from one-panel editorials to traditional and computer animation, and the meta-realities of digital gaming. Papers exploring non-narrative aspects of video games, including historical, cultural, socio-political, and material elements of video games also welcome. Papers considering theoretical aspects or applications of video games should consider our Play Studies area.
