Having Fun With Research

Presenter:
Alan Robertson Lehman (University of Maryland - College Park)
Presentation type:
Paper
Abstract:

Since the summer of 2008 I have immersed myself in the study of Medical Marijuana. Although I teach research methods in criminology and criminal justice my academic background also includes Psychology and Sociology, so I have approached my subject from an eclectic social sciences perspective. I have conducted interviews, designed, executed, and statistically analyzed surveys, and attended a number of professional conferences, meeting and symposium. My favorite research method is participant observation—encountering the phenomena ‘out in the field’. I have had a number of interesting and enlightening experiences in the field and would like to share them for this presentation. This could be an individual presentation if appropriate; I’ve noticed that prior ‘Professional Development’ presentations have used the roundtable format, which is fine with me. I anticipate a fun and useful session—I look forward to meeting others who are conducting research and sharing with and learning from them.

p.s. I’ve been attending MAPACA since 2001, so I’m familiar with the conference protocols. I look forward to hearing from you, thanks for considering this proposal.

Scheduled on:
Thursday, November 6, 11:00 am to 12:15 pm
