MAPACA is fortunate to be hosting the 2012 annual conference at the beautiful Wyndham Grand Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. With a newly refurbished banquet room overlooking the confluence of the Pittsburgh’s three rivers (Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers), the hotel provides one of the most dynamic views we have ever had for a conference.
Wyndham has set up a page specifically for the conference at: http://www.wyndham.com/groupevents20...
Major cultural institutions such as the Warhol Museum, Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts (home of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Heinz Field (home of the Pittsburgh Steelers), PNC Park (home of the Pittsburgh Pirates), Market Square, and the Toonseum are all within walking distance.
The Carnegie Museum of Art, Duquesne Incline, Consol Energy Center (which will be hosting the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus that weekend), and Mattress Factory Museum are all within a few miles and a short cab ride away.
Favorite local restaurants nearby include Seviche, Primanti Brothers, Habitat, and Bravo Franco.
The Wyndham amenities include a fitness center, restaurant/bar, business center, and free Wi-Fi.
A block of rooms has been set aside for attendees of the 2012 conference at a special rate of $150.00 per night. To make a reservation, call 1-800-996-3426 and ask for the “Popular Culture Association” rate.
