We are pleased to announce our 2023 winner of the Divine Impact Award, Angelo Cataldi.
Born on March 13, 1951, in Providence, Rhode Island, Angelo was destined to dive headfirst into the world of journalism. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Rhode Island, he honed his craft and enhanced his skills at the prestigious Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, where Cataldi delved even deeper into the art of storytelling.

We are pleased to announce our 2019 winner of the Divine Impact Award, Matthew Buchholz.
A native of Tucson, Arizona, Matthew Buchholz graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1998. From 2001-2008 he managed the Cinématek program at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM).
The 2019 conference will be held at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center
MAPACA has reserved a block of rooms at the Marriott City Center at a special rate for conference attendees. Our block of hotel rooms is held until 10/16, though some days may sell out before that. If days in our block sell out before the cutoff we will request more rooms, but they may not be available. After 10/16, our block will be released for the hotel to sell at their standard rates. Attendees may still request rooms at the Group rate based on hotel availability.
We are pleased to announce our 2018 winner of the Divine Impact Award, Rabia Chaudry. A longtime resident of Baltimore, Ms. Chaudry is a wife, mother, attorney, and a 2016 Jennings Randolph Senior Fellow at U.S. Institute of Peace, where she researched the intersection of religion and violent extremism. Ms. Chaudry brought Adnan Sayed’s story to the attention of Sarah Koenig, who turned it into the popular podcast Serial, launching the true crime podcast phenomenon. While Serial was popular, Ms.
MAPACA is proud to announce the 2017 Divine Impact Award winner Chef Jose Garces. Chef Garces is an award winning chef, author, and restaurateur with a strong connection to the Philadelphia area. Chef Garces’s culinary success as a James Beard Award winner and his work on the hit Food Network show Iron Chef America are complemented by his work with the Garces Foundation, a nonprofit that provides health and educational services to Philadelphia’s immigrant community.
The 2018 conference will be held once again in the historic and newly-renovated Lord Baltimore Hotel in Downtown Baltimore. The Lord Baltimore Hotel was built in 1928 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel was purchased by the Rubell Family who launched a complete remodel and restoration of the French Renaissance hotel.
